Napa Garden, 11x14

As a child, Maryanne Jacobsen was a creative little soul, applying herself for hours in piano practice, as well as drawing and designing fashions for her make-believe models. Despite wanting to pursue a career in the arts, her parents insisted she attend college to receive a "real" education. Her love of the arts eventually expressed itself through dance, where she was able to dance, choreograph, teach, and even design simple costumes. She became the Artistic Director of a regional ballet school and successful Performing Arts Center, where many hours or dedication and passion resulted in developing students who went on to perform in prestigious venues, including New York City Ballet, Broadway, and even becoming directors of their own dance schools.

Maryanne switched artistic careers after moving to Florida in 2004, and was finally able to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a visual artist. Although predominately self- taught, she pursued workshops with esteemed artists throughout the country, including Kenn Backhaus, Kim English, David Leffel and many others. Maryanne is a contemporary impressionist with a distinctive and unforgettable style, often using color or dramatic impasto to impart an emotional response. Maryanne strives to create paintings that attempt to reflect the beauty and passion that she feels when observing the magic of the Creator's own sacred hand, displayed in all its glorious splendor throughout nature and life itself.

Since she began painting in 2006, she has garnered dozens of awards, and has been juried into National shows and juried plein air events across the country.  She is being collected enthusiastically in both corporate and private collections throughout the world by collectors who have embraced the vitality and spontaneity in her work. She is a Signature member of both The American Impressionist Society and American Women Artists, and is an Associate member of Oil Painters of America.
